Lake Charlevoix Watershed Communities

Based on previous shoreline protection work in the communities surrounding Lake Charlevoix, it is clear that local elected and appointed officials believe that maintaining the water quality of the lake is important for future economic development and quality of life in the region. In an effort to build upon previous shoreline protection work, the Enacting Shoreline Zoning Protections project was launched to help protect the water quality of Lake Charlevoix through the adoption of common shoreline protection zoning standards in the ten jurisdictions surrounding the lake. The project promotes the understanding and acceptance of the need for common shoreline protection standards in the City of Charlevoix, Boyne City, East Jordan, Bay Township, Charlevoix Township, Eveline Township, Evangeline Township, Hayes Township, Marion Township, and South Arm Township. Use the specific community links below (click on the name of the jurisdiction you would like to view) to see the current shoreline protection zoning standards for each jurisdiction.
