Viewing platforms in greenbelt

Recommendation

Zoning ordinances will limit the size of waterfront viewing platforms in the greenbelt to 200 square feet or smaller or prohibit the construction of waterfront viewing platforms.

Reasons for Recommendation

Prohibiting, or allowing only small waterfront viewing platforms reduces the amount of impervious surface coverage in the greenbelt and helps to limit shoreline erosion and slow stormwater runoff speeds. Maintaining continuous sections of shoreline greenbelt also preserves and enhances views of the shore from the water.
