Paths through greenbelt to water

Recommendation

Zoning ordinances will allow a single path with a 6' maximum width to the water through the greenbelt, or prohibit the construction of paths in the greenbelt.

Reasons for Recommendation

Prohibiting, or allowing only narrow paths to the water reduces the amount of impervious surface coverage in the greenbelt and helps to limit shoreline erosion and slow stormwater runoff speeds. Maintaining continuous sections of shoreline greenbelt also preserves and enhances views of the shore from the water.
